Moms First brings “No Country for Mothers” to San Francisco

September 28, 2026 SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Moms First, the national nonprofit fighting for America’s moms, tonight brings its American Motherhood Tour to the Presidio Theatre for a screening of the record-breaking documentary No Country for Mothers, followed by conversations with technology leaders, policymakers, and advocates on building an economy that works for parents.

THE EVENT | SCREENING, FIRESIDE CHAT, AND PANEL
The San Francisco stop of the American Motherhood Tour convenes technology leaders, funders, policymakers, and advocates at the Presidio Theatre (99 Moraga Ave, San Francisco, CA 94129) for an evening built around the film and the future of work.
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie opens the program, followed by an introduction of Moms First founder and CEO Reshma Saujani by Nihal Mehta, Founding General Partner at Eniac Ventures. Saujani then sits down for a fireside chat with Elizabeth Kelly, head of beneficial deployments at Anthropic and former founding director of the U.S. AI Safety Institute, ahead of the film’s 78-minute screening.
Following the screening, a panel moderated by Moms First COO Molly Day brings together Saujani and New York Times Opinion columnist Jessica Grose, author of Screaming on the Inside: The Unsustainability of American Motherhood and a featured voice in the film, for a conversation on where the movement goes from here.
ABOUT THE FILM
No Country for Mothers is a documentary investigation into the lies used throughout history to distract and divide American mothers, and a call to build an American motherhood that actually works, with the child care, paid leave, and real support moms have been promised and denied for decades. The film was made by more than 2,500 mothers and allies who signed on as producers, breaking the world record for the most producers ever credited on a single film.
Since its June premiere in New York, No Country for Mothers has rolled out through the American Motherhood Tour, anchored by marquee screenings in New York, Minneapolis, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and now San Francisco, ahead of a stop in Seattle, and is on track for more than 1,000 community-led screenings hosted by moms and allies in all 50 states. The film also recently completed an Oscar-qualifying theatrical run at Cinema Village in New York City, alongside the Oscar Nod for Mom campaign asking the Academy to recognize mothers’ stories on Hollywood’s biggest stage.
