FAQS

Answers to help you get started and feel ready.
Do I need to be an expert or facilitator to host a screening? Faq Arrow

Not at all. You don’t need to have the right words or lead a perfect discussion. Your role is simply to bring people together and create space. The film will do the heavy lifting and the conversation will follow.

How many people do I need to invite? Faq Arrow

There’s no minimum required to host a screening—it’s completely up to you. Some gatherings are small and intimate, others are larger and more structured. Both are powerful.

That said, we recommend inviting at least five people. These gatherings are meant to be shared, and the conversation is what makes them so impactful.

Do I have to play the entire film? Faq Arrow

No. You can absolutely make this your own.

You might:

  • Watch the full film together
  • Play select portions
  • Pause throughout for conversation

There’s no one right way. What matters is creating space for connection.

What kind of gathering should I host? Faq Arrow

Whatever feels right to you.

Your screening can be:

  • Casual and intimate (living room, backyard)
  • Virtual (Zoom with a few friends)
  • More structured (community space, panel, group discussion)

Make it as simple or as planned as you’d like.

How do I invite people? I don’t want it to feel awkward. Faq Arrow

Keep it simple and real.

A quick text like: “I’m hosting a small gathering to watch a film about motherhood. Would love for you to come. Here’s the link to RSVP: ”

You don’t need a perfect invite. People show up because you asked.

What if I’m nervous about leading the conversation? Faq Arrow

That’s completely normal.

You’re not leading—you’re holding space.
You can start with a simple question like: “What stayed with you?”

From there, let the conversation unfold naturally.

How do I access the film? Faq Arrow

Once there are registered guests for your event (we recommend a minimum of five guests), we’ll send you an access code within a week of your screening to unlock the film through the Moms First website.

Can I host virtually? Faq Arrow

Yes. Virtual screenings are a great option, especially for bringing together moms who can’t be in the same place.
All you need is a Zoom link (or other cloud-based video conferencing platform link) and the ability to screen share with sound.

Do I need special equipment? Faq Arrow

No complicated setup needed.

For in-person:

  • Laptop or other device connected to wi-fi
  • TV or projector
  • HDMI cable or casting setup
  • Speakers (if needed)

If you’re hosting virtually:

  • Use Zoom (or similar platform)
  • Enable screen sharing with sound

Simple is perfect.

What happens after the screening? Faq Arrow

This is where it begins.

We encourage you to invite your guests to:

  • Share their own story
  • Stay connected
  • Host a gathering of their own

That’s how this grows—from one room to the next.

What support will I receive as a host? Faq Arrow

You’re not doing this alone.

You’ll have access to:

  • A full hosting toolkit
  • Conversation guides
  • Promotion materials
  • Live office hours with our team

We’re just an email away and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Is there any recognition or incentive for hosting? Faq Arrow

Yes. As your gathering grows, we’ll recognize and support you in different ways:

10+ guests → Receive a special host thank-you gift

25+ guests → Have talent from the film, such as Reshma Saujani, join your event.

More details will be shared as your event comes together.
