Founder and Principal Consultant, Hunter Solutions
Jerome Hunter is an award-winning educator, equity advisor, and advocate for healthy masculinity whose work lives at the intersection of youth development, systems change, and cultural transformation. Raised by a single mother who modeled both strength and tenderness, Jerome learned early on that masculinity is far more expansive than we're taught to believe. This foundation shaped his notion that masculinity can evolve beyond traditional constraints, opening space for boys and men to lead with empathy, vulnerability, and purpose. He is the founder and former Chief Academic Officer of an all-boys middle school in Seattle, where he designed a curriculum to elevate the brilliance of Black and brown boys while remaining inclusive of all students. His approach combined experiential learning with emotional intelligence to foster both academic and personal growth. The school became a living framework for reimagining how young men could be seen, supported, and celebrated for their full humanity. Since founding the school, Jerome has scaled his work nationally, partnering with school districts, nonprofits, and public agencies to implement practical, equity-centered frameworks that challenge institutional bias and unlock opportunity. He is a TED-Ed Innovative Educator, an Edgar Martinez Teaching Fellow, a lifelong mentor with My Brother’s Keeper, and a My Northwest Hometown Hero. His work has been featured by the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley, KUOW and NPR, the Seattle Stories Project, and in his TED Talk on the 3 Skills Every Middle School Boy Needs. Through his consulting practice, Jerome partners with organizations to co-create systems that better serve historically marginalized communities and invites leaders to move from reflection to action. A proud uncle and dedicated community builder, he believes the future of fatherhood depends on how we support the emotional and social development of boys today. He lives in Seattle, Washington, where he continues to advise, mentor, and advocate for the next generation.
