Tell State Officials: We deserve paid leave!
The United States is the only industrialized nation in the world without a national paid leave policy. One in four new moms has to go back to work within two weeks of giving birth, and most dads don’t even have a single day of paid family leave. It’s time to change that and make paid leave available in all 50 states.
Today only 13 states and D.C. offer paid leave, in spite of programs’ immense benefits to families, including:
- Reduction in infant mortality and lasting improvements in children’s emotional; cognitive; and physical health and development.
- Improved mental, physical, and financial well-being of parents.
- Business improvement in employee recruitment, retention, productivity, and morale.
